Thirty yachts vie at the Victory sailing regatta near St. Vlas sea resort

For two days already yachts from all over Bulgaria are “invading” the yacht port in the Bulgarian summer resort of St. Vlas (Sveti Vlas). The reason is in the sailing regatta which is the marine event of the year - some 30 yachts with a total crew of more than 200 people take part in it.
“Twenty brand-new speedboats and yachts are advertised for sale and waiting for their new owners,” Georgi Mihov, head of the St. Vlas yacht club explained. The cheapest of them stands at 1040 euro and the most expensive - 53,000 euro.
Bigshots from Bulgaria and abroad have berthed their sailing boats at the ports along the southern Black Sea coast - in Bourgas, Nessebar and Djuni. Two yachts of the Russian riches and one owned by a big European company are resting in the Sozopol port.

In Bulgaria, a pint of beer sells at 0.5 euro, while its price in the Spanish resorts reaches 5 pounds. Over 90% of the holiday complexes along the Bulgarian Black Sea coast are of high quality. The British tourists prefer the Bulgarian summer resorts because of low prices and moderately warm summer.
Some 50% of the tourists choose the summer vacation destination according to climate and natural environment, the data of the European Commission show. About 35% of the tourists opt for a low-cost vacations in luxurious hotels. For 23,9% of the holidaymakers, quality of food is a priority in the selection of a summer holiday destination. Tourists from the former socialist republics are coming back to the Bulgarian seaside. The German tourists are now outnumbered by groups from Russia, Romania, Poland and Hungary.
The Russian tourists at the seaside are now by fifteen percent more than they were last season. Hotel and restaurant-keepers say the Russian tourists are their best customers and they also spare no money while on holiday.
